OMX Nordic Exchange uses a common sub-division and composition of indexes for the Nordic markets. A uniform index standard enhances understanding of the Nordic and Baltic indexes and facilitates comparisons between the different indexes. The OMX Index family includes All share, tradeable, benchmark, sector and list indexes and the indexes are calculated for the Nordic market and also for all local markets.
All indexes are linked, meaning that they are calculated based on the price level at a fixed point in time (the base date) when the index is set at a given value. The indexes are market weighted, calculated based on the change in the total market value from one point in time to another of all the shares included in the index.
